The Executive Board is pleased to announce that Erno Mijland has been appointed practor of the new SintLucas practorate Technology as Partner of Creative Makers as of 1 September 2025. Erno is currently education advisor at SintLucas and also active with various activities at the intersection of creativity and technology.
At SintLucas and in his previous career, Erno has always been much engaged in research. As a practor, Erno supervises teacher-researchers from the clusters and conducts practice-oriented research himself at the interface of education, research and the creative sector. The focus of the activities and research at the professorship are in the field of Technology as Partner of Creative Makers. In order for SintLucas to remain a leading creative vocational school in the future and to train professionals who can respond to questions from society, it is important that we investigate how the creative and making process is changing and what this means for (the training of) creative professionals.
The department Technology as Partner of Creative Makers conducts practice-oriented research into the design process in which technology has an increasingly prominent role and can (partly) take over the creative design process. We ask ourselves how we, as a creative professional school, can best respond to this in our education and in relation to professional practice and society. The department experiments and designs solutions in cooperation with stakeholders and partners. The practorate is part of SintLucas’ Quality Agenda 2024-2027 and SintLucas receives additional resources for this from the ministry. We are delighted that Erno Mijland will be working on this as a practor.

Erno has been working at SintLucas as an educational advisor for several years now and knows our school inside out. Erno: “The role of practor offers me the opportunity to do research on the theme of Technology and Creativity together with others, with full attention and close to the practice. The theme fascinates me and is urgent, especially for SintLucas and the field of the creative industry. The different perspectives, experiences, opportunities and challenges that converge around this theme make it extremely interesting. I’m looking forward to using and deepening my knowledge and skills, exploring together with colleagues and students inside and outside SintLucas.”
